As promised..my weekend story!
Warning: Long post ahead!
I started off with having Dim Sum @ Chinatown with Nancy, Kenny, Louie and one of their friends, let's call him X *can't remember his name* It's been ages since the last time I had Dim Sum. There was a festival in Chinatown and guess what they sold?! Fake branded bags and purses! I thought there's no such things in the US, but nothing can stop Chinese people. Haha.. After lunch Kenny, Louie and X went to Mitsuwa. Nancy and I stayed there and waited for Yenny, Ona and Reynold. We were planning to have a manicure and pedicure, but it was so expensive. $35 for a pedicure and another $12 for the manicure! Geez, I could have both manicure and pedicure for $25 in CA. So, we decided to stroll in the festival. I got myself Monokurobo's stuffed toys to be put in my car (photo will be posted later). I went to AjiIchiban, but they didn't have all the things I wanted! I used to buy dried squids, rock chocolates and fried seaweed there. But I couldn't find it anymore! So I didn't buy anything. We sat in front of AjiIchiban like 2 lost children waiting for their parents. Luckily, Ona called and off we go to Joy Yee. Yenny, Ona and Reynold had their lunches there and I ordered Mango Freeze with Tappioca. There's no good Bubble Tea in Purdue, so the closest place to get one is Chicago Chinatown. Joy Yee's lunch portions are HUGE! Usually whenever I go there with my friends, we order (total number of people - 1) foods. But Reynold ordered 4 foods for 3 people! Nancy and I thought they wouldn't finish it, but they did!
From Chinatown, we went to downtown to check in at the hotel. I thought the hotel will be somewhere behind John Hancock tower, but it turned out that the hotel was exactly at Magnificent Mile. It was in the middle of Millenium Park and John Hancock Tower. What a nice spot. And the hotel was nice too. Well, it's Marriott after all. After putting their luggage, we walked to Millenium Park and the photo session began..
Magnificent Mile
"The Bean" @ Millenium Park
LEGO Store
It was started to rain when we headed back to Magnificent Mile. Reynold decided to go back to the hotel, but the girls continued their journey! Off to American Girl Place, where all the rich spoiled kids buy their $100 dolls. The rain became worse, so Ona and Yenny decided to buy an umbrella @ Walgreen. We went to Hershey Tower and again..our photo session 2 began..
Hershey Syrup
Hershey's Factory Workers?
Tired and hungry, we walked back to the hotel to take some rests and discussed what we wanted to eat. At first, we decided to eat UNO Pizzeria, but on the way there, we saw one big tempting sign "BIG BOWL". It's an americanize chinese food. To say it more clearly, it is a more expensive version of Panda Express. I only ordered Fried Calamari, which tasted very standard, but not bad. Everyone else hated their foods and kinda' regretted eating there. Nancy and I drove back home after eating. It was about 12.30am when we reached my apartment and we were planning to have breakfast at Bongo Room at 10am.
As usual, Indo people are always late. It was so hard for me to open my eyes. I put my alarm clock to 8.30am, but I snoozed it until 9am. Took a shower, woke Nancy up and she woke Kenny and Louie up as well. We were ready by 10.30am, but after calling Ona, we decided to have brunch instead of breakfast at 11.30am.
Bongo room is famous for its chocolate french toast tower. Everyone told me to try having breakfast there. So now I did. It was really crowded and we had to wait about an hour to get a sit. I was about to order the french toast when I looked at the menu and tempted to order their breakfast menu. Everyone else agreed to order the breakfast menu and a french toast to be shared. When the french toast came..I was soooooo tempted to eat it than to eat my bfast meal.
Here's the ultra-special french toast =P
It looks really good and it tastes even better!! I will eat here the next time I go to Chicago!
Finishing up with our brunch, we then headed to Science Museum. We were planning to take the CSI Experience Tour but the tickets were all SOLD! We still went inside, but we just couldn't see the CSI exhibition. We were done by 5.30pm and off to our last destination: TEXAS DE BRAZIL.
It was a brazilian steakhouse buffet. If you happen to come and visit Chicago, try this restaurant. It was a unique dining experience. It wasn't cheap though. Even after we used a 25% off coupon, we still had to pay $43 per person. I've just heard they would have a 50% off promotion next week =( Well, anyway, I like this restaurant. It's my third/fourth time there. The foods worth the price, especially for special occasions.
After eating, it's time to say goodbye to Ona and Reynold. It was a FUN weekend! Hope to see you guys soon..probably in October if I could get a cheap ticket to go to SF =D
