So many things I want to do..so little time I have..

Tuesday, September 30, 2008

Recently, I have so many things I *want* to do. It's not that I *need* it. I just want it. Maybe it's because I feel that my life becomes 'regular' these days. I do the same thing everyday, every week, every month. I'm starting to think about courses I could take after work, even though I know that I would feel very tired afterwards. I researched about part-time grad school, french language class, pastry class and some more computer related class. I still don't know which one I would want to do. Most of the time, as the time passes by, I will just forget about these things. I know this is only a temporary thing, but there's currently a strong urge that pushes me to do at least something. I'll have to figure out what. Until then, I'll be living in my regular days.

Napa Valley and Sausalito

Last weekend, I went to Napa Valley and Sausalito with RV, angel and willie. I'm so in love with V Sattui wines! I bought the Muscat 2006 and RV bought the Rose 2007. We haven't opened it yet, but we will..soon..

Anyways, here's some pic: here and here

Long mixed up post

Friday, August 8, 2008

It's been a while since the last time I updated my blog. Things have been busy ever since I start working (i.e. less time to do stuffs during weekdays). Let me summarize some of the things I've done last month: foods, foods, and foods. Haha..O well, no wonder why I get fat even faster here :( *sob*
Anyways, I went to a SCRUM training about two weeks ago. If you haven't heard about it, SCRUM is a project development method that my company is trying to use. One thing I can tell you about it is that the lecture is soooo boring. It's probably because we are not familiar with the method and the lecturer assumes that we know all about it. It's a 8-5 training complete with breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks :D The only good thing about this training is, of course, the FOODS. I didn't expect the food will be this good, because, well, it's a training, so the food is usually just an OK food. I started my lunch with Salmon with some lemon sauce and ended it with a fruit tart. The fruit tart is very good. I saved it for my afternoon snacks and a lot of people were eyeing on my dessert! Here it is...

Move on to another topic. I went to eat Queen House with my friends last week. And of course we were getting dessert after dinner. We went to our favorite Gelato place in Castro. We were having a hard time deciding which flavors we wanted as we wanted, well, EVERYTHING! =P I ended up sharing 3 flavors (forgot which three) with RV. Here's us at while eating ice cream..

Next trip, we are taking a french dessert: crepes! We went to Ti Couz last weekend with Albert and his girlfriend. His gf was going back to Indo and transiting in SFO, so we picked her up and off we went to Ti Couz. Ti Couz is actually the most expensive crepes place ever! A crepe will cost you around $12-15 including all the tax and tips. But the place is always packed with people. That sure tells you how good the crepes is. I shared a white choco-nutella-banilla bean ice cream crepe with RV which cost us ~$15, more expensive than our dinner at Ikea. Haha..Albert had the interesting flaming crepe with Rum and vanilla ice cream. There should be some flames in Albert's crepe but it did not show up when I took the picture.
Next two places were farewell places :( One of my friends is going back to Indo for good, so we had a dinner at Cherry sushi. The salmon sashimi was very good. They cut it very thick and it's very tender.
Too bad we have to say farewell to Paul here >_< Yesterday, my big boss is leaving to work in another place. We all went to this bar near the office and had his farewell party there. It's so sad because I've heard all good things about him and I haven't had a chance to work with him at all. I wish him luck and hopefully we can still keep in touch..Last but not least, RV and I finally went to Black Angus yesterday. We were planning to go since last month, but haven't had the chance. The foods were pretty good. We got the dinner for 2 combo, which gave us an appetizer to share, 2 entrees and a dessert to share. We ordered crab cakes for our appetizer and turned out we also got soup/salad along with our orders. I got the potato soup and RV got the salad with ranch. Everything tasted very good so far. We ordered New York Steak and Rib Eye for the entrees. Both steaks were okay in my opinion. It's not spectacular. I like Texas Roadhouse's better. We didn't finish the steaks because we still have desserts and we were almost full. We ordered this big chocolate cake with ice cream and fudge. And the portion is very big. We didn't finish the dessert as well, so we took everything for to go. I only get the picture of the cake, just because we were surprised with the size.

That's about it. See you in the next post.

Daily Routines

Monday, June 30, 2008

I've been working for a week now and I've discovered the activities that I always do everyday. First, I always have to wake up early, around 7-7.30. I took shower, get a chocolate for breakfast and off to work. Arriving at the office, I always get 2 bottled waters and make a glass of hot chocolate. Then, I usually have 1 meeting each day. In the afternoon, I buy my lunch from the cafetaria downstairs and then eat my lunch in my lil cube. Between after-lunch and going home, I sat in my cube, playing around with couple different cell phones, testing it, and *boomb* It's time to go home =D

I rarely sleep after midnight now. I just feel so tired after work. Sometimes I still hang out with my friends, playing games, cards, but most of the time I just hang out with RV at home, watching DVDs.

Works have been good so far.

P.S. I Love You

Tuesday, June 17, 2008

"Dear Holly, I don't have much time. I don't mean literally, I mean you're out buying ice cream and you'll be home soon. But I have a feeling this is the last letter, because there is only one thing left to tell you. It isn't to go down memory lane or make you buy a lamp, you can take care of yourself without any help from me. It's to tell you how much you move me, how you changed me. You made me a man, by loving me Holly. And for that, I am eternally grateful... literally. If you can promise me anything, promise me that whenever you're sad, or unsure, or you lose complete faith, that you'll try to see yourself through my eyes. Thank you for the honor of being my wife. I'm a man with no regrets. How lucky am I. You made my life, Holly. But I'm just one chapter in yours. There'll be more. I promise. So here it comes, the big one. Don't be afraid to fall in love again. Watch out for that signal, when life as you know it ends. P.S. I will always love you."

"Dear Gerry, you said you wanted me to fall in love again, and maybe one day I will. But there are all kinds of love out there. This is my one and only life, And its a great and terrible and short and endless thing, and none of us come out of it alive. I don't have a plan... except, it's time my mom laughed again. She has never seen the world... she has never seen Ireland. So, I'm taking her back where we started... Maybe now she'll understand. I don't know how you did it, but you brought me back from the dead. I'll write to you again soon. P.S... Guess what?"

Another new chapter of my life

Monday, June 2, 2008

Here's the story for the last 2 busiest months of my life. My mom, aunts and my grandpa were coming on April 28. I finished my final exam on the 30th and flied to San Francisco directly on that same day. I had an interview the next day and drove to Los Angeles with my family in the evening. Quite a hectic start, isn't it? We stayed in LA for 2 nights, drove to Las Vegas and stayed another 2 nights. We stopped in LA for another night before going back to SF. It was a really tiring vacation. I drove almost for the whole trip. Back in SF in the evening and I had another interview the next morning. I accompanied my family after that and sent my aunts and grandpa to the airport that same night. I was supposed to flew back to Indiana on the 8th, but I missed my flight *which made my mom really angry*, so I had to stay another night and went back to Indi on the 9th with RV.

I had my commencement on the 10th, start packing my stuffs and went to Chicago for 1 night on the 11th and dropped RV to the airport on the 12th. I went back to Purdue and packed my stuffs again. I left for another interview in SF on the 13th. My mom was staying at the hotel near Indi airport for 1 night and went to SF on the 14th. I went back to Indi on the 15th and arrived at Purdue around 9pm. I tried to finish packing all my stuff as well as cleaning my apartment. I was done on the 17th morning.

I started road-tripping with my friends from Purdue to SF. It took us 3 days passing Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Wyoming, Utah and Nevada before we finally reached California. We stayed over in Nebraska and Utah. I arrived in my apartment on the 19th.

My mom was still in the States until the 27th, so I pretty much took her around and bought some stuffs for my apartment.

I am now waiting for my OPT and will start working as soon as it arrives. My movers will also arrive in the next 2 days, so it's going to be busy busy and busy again.

Wish me luck for my new job.I hope everything will go smoothly.

Spring Break - Part 2

Saturday, March 22, 2008

Back in Purdue now..Spring break was great! I can't believe graduation is 50 days away and I am moving to San Jose soon. I really can't wait to move there.

To sum up my spring break:

Spring Break - Part 1

Monday, March 10, 2008

2.5 days in San Jose and I've already spent $150 >_<
Foods so far: Dynasty Dim Sum,
Yoshinoya, Le Boulanger, Indo Bazaar, Ramen Halu

It does not look much, right? But I've spent $84 in Dynasty because I have to pay for 4 people. Have to save some money by eating cheap.

Some friends I've met so far:

Job Hunting Progress - Part 2 + Palo Alto trip

Sunday, March 2, 2008

I've just back from my interview in Bay Area. It was a very busy and tiring weekend. I did 6 interviews in one day; 2 technicals, and 4 others are more to behavioral questions. I should found out pretty soon and if I do get in, that means no more interviews for me =) While I was doing my interview, I found out that I am invited for an interview on campus with Microsoft next Wed/Thurs. I also have another online interview with a company in SF. Wish me luckkk!!!!

Anyway, I had a chance to stroll around downtown Palo Alto with RV. After the welcoming dinner, RV and I went out to get some dinner for him. We were about to eat Cheesecake or Bucaddi Beppo, but we finally decided to try a restaurant called La Strada. We only ordered 1 dish and 1 dessert because I've already eaten a bit during the welcoming dinner. We ordered the duck risotto, which tasted amazing, and SOFFIATO di CIOCCOLATO "LA STRADA", which is similar with molten chocolate cake. It's a little bit pricey considering the size of the dish is quite small, but we liked the food.

Pray for me so I could get the job please..

New Layout

Tuesday, February 26, 2008

You should have notice by now that I changed my blog layout. It's still a work in progress. I don't like that the page width is so small, but still trying to find a way to make it bigger. So, please deal with it for now. I know the video can't be seen clearly because of the width problem. I hope I would be able to fix it soon~

Ugghhh...I'm currently in love with this character. It's sooo cute. I first found it in Japan last December and I bought 2 keychains, 1 pink for my sister and a light brown for me. Cute, isn't it?!

Job Hunting Progress - Part 1

So, here comes my senior year in college. Time for serious job huntings. I really want to work in Silicon Valley, so I only applied for companies that are located around the area. I got a 3rd (final) interview with Epic System in Wisconsin, but I turned it down, because I want to work in a big city. Staying at Purdue for almost 3 years is more than enough. I've had several interviews with companies in CA, but most of them told me to contact them back when I've already moved to CA. I've just got turned down by Cataphora today. Well, I didn't really interested in the company because, well, they expect too much for a new graduates. Their products are unique an useful, but the recruiting process is hell. I will have my 2nd (final) interview with E*Trade next week. I really like this company and I really wish I could get in. They understand that new graduates might not have real world experiences and skills. They don't expect us to know everything. And most importantly, they sponsor H1 and provide relocation assistance. I hope I could ace the interview, so I don't need to do more interviews. *Wish me Luck*

-to be continued after the interview-

Has it ever occurred to you that you don't have anything to say to your boyfriend but you actually want to talk to him? Well, it happens a lot to me lately. It sucks..really. I've never had any problem talking to people before. Not even once. I like talking, I admit it. And I love talking to him. It's just annoying when I want to talk and there's nothing I can say and when he doesn't seem excited when I talk to him =( I hope things will get better soon.

Anyways, there's this very good buffet restaurant I went to last week with my friends. Here are some of the pictures. Don't drool~

I know I'm a month late for this. But here goes:

  1. I need to lose ~7 more kg. I lost 7kg last semester, so hopefully 7 more kg this semester =) And this will help me with my sweet tooth problem, Diet-Proof Desserts
  2. I need to do a serious job hunting and have to land my perfect job before I'm 22!
  3. I must visit Orlando, FL and Las Vegas, NV.
  4. I shouldn't ask for more money from my parents after I'm 22.
  5. I have to start saving money and not buying unnecessary things.

Happy New Year Everyone!

Saturday, January 12, 2008

I've just back from my 3 weeks vacation back to Indo. It was really fun. I got to meet my family and best friends. 3 weeks wasn't enough at all. I wish I have more holiday. Now, back to the lonely 'desa' Purdue. 4 more months before I could meet my fam again and finally move back to SF.

Anyways, to recap my winter break, I went to lots and lots of new malls in Indo, met my old friends and hang out with my family again. I went to Lampung with my big fam. The waves was pretty bad at that time. But we had fun. I love hanging out with my cousins. I spent my new year eve in my cousin's house. We had a little BBQ there. I saw fireworks from home. I then went to Bandung for a day just to eat and shopping. I think I maxed out my mom's credit card >_< (sorry, mom!)

As a side note, I bought a new cell phone! It's a Nokia 5610. I love this phone so far. I've just got myself a 4gb microSD card. So I could use my phone as an MP3 player as well =D

Check out some pictures from my holidays in my Facebook.
